Hill City (population 479) is located 18 miles south of Grand Rapids on Hill Lake. A city park is located on the lake and the K-12 school building utilizes a passive solar and earth-sheltered design to minimize heating expenses. There are five miles of paved walking trails which link the city to Quadna Mountain and the school.

Recreation: Hill City Park on Hill Lake, fishing dock, boat launch, beach, playground, camping, picnic shelter, volleyball, pay showers and sanitary facilities; paved walking trails, Don Beerbower Veterans Park, Don Beerbower was a local boy who was shot down in World War II. On Highway 169, wall with veterans’ names and a retired, authentic Army helicopter, Ben’s Park, A small park with a swing set is located on Lake Avenue across from the post office.
City Monuments: Bear statue in Bear Park, Located on Highway 169 and Ione Avenue with a gazebo. The walking trail also runs parallel to Bear Park.
Festivals and Events: Fourth of July- parade, games & 10 K race.
